Abstract The construction of the Single Market is based in both: the importance of antitrust law and policies and the reinforcement of environmental protection. Both are essentials targets for the EU authorities. The main axe of this paper is based in the fact that economics is really an important and essential issue in the European environmental law context and that the compatibility between competition law and environmental regulation can't be ignored. The integration of both targets can be made through rules and policies. The Court of Justice has also an essential role to play in her case-by-case labor. This article aims to illustrate the different issues and side effects of the integration of environmental policies into antitrust Single Market's targets. The Court of Justice does a "real construction" of a "living together" goals policy. She also builds a new concept of "environmental general interest."
