UN Institute for Teaching and Research Visitors Program

NYU School of Law and the Hauser Global Law School Program welcome up to six UN officials each spring semester to campus as part of the UN Institute for Teaching and Research (UNITAR) Visitors Program. These officials visit the Law School for one semester participating in courses of their choice serving to enrich the diplomats' perspectives on International Law issues by offering them the privilege of learning from preeminent academics in this field. These officials audit courses alongside J.D., LL.M., and J.S.D. students thereby immersing themselves in the global student body NYU School of Law represents.

Those that would like to be considered for the UNITAR Visitors Program at NYU must be selected by UNITAR as a candidate for this program, at which time the Hauser Global Law School Program extends invitations to those most likely to benefit from the Law School environment. Once these officials arrive on campus, they receive individual orientation and course counseling to select those courses most appropriate for their goals. Certain courses, like first-year law classes, clinics, and classes that require pre- or co-requisites, may not be available. However, as NYU School of Law offers over 200 rich and diverse choices each year, this restriction is not limiting. Courses taught by Law School faculty, including Global Visiting Professors, are offered within the stimulating intellectual environment that is the hallmark of NYU's philosophy of legal education.

The Hauser Global Law School Program began welcoming officials into the UNITAR Visitors Program in the 2004-2005 academic year. Those who will be participating in Spring 2007 are listed below, as well as the names and UN Missions of the UNITAR Visitors Program alumni.
