Paris II is located in the heart of the Latin Quarter, the ancient University section of Paris. Courses are taught in the Pantheon area using the old Sorbonne buildings and in other buildings on the Rue d'Assas. As with Nanterre, most courses use a straight lecture method in large classrooms. Paris II has not gone as far as Nanterre in accommodating foreign students, but it is moving in that direction and will offer an introductory seminar for common law country students. A legal translation course is offered in a separate language institute and can be taken by law students. Most of the courses that would be useful to American students are, it must be noted, offered in the Fall semester.
The following courses are ordinarily offered in the Fall semester: Banking Institutions; Corporations I; EC Institutions; EC Commercial Law; European Organizations; Labor Law; Intellectual Property Law; International Business Transactions; Major Legal, Political & Economic Doctrines I; Public International Law; Special Contracts.
Because of the way its academic program is structured, its outstanding reputation, and its attractive location, Paris II would be an excellent option for NYU School of Law students desiring to study in France who are able to leave New York for the Fall semester.
