Tutoring

Tutoring is recommended for students who are doing academically poorly or who have missed a substantial amount of class time because of illness or other personal problems. It is not intended as a review of class material or to discuss study/exam skills. It is limited to students experiencing academic difficulties, and available only after one semester of study has been completed.

The Office of Student Affairs offers a confidential tutoring service that is open to graduate students. Tutors are fellow students who have demonstrated academic excellence in the area(s) they tutor. Once a tutor is assigned to you, you may meet with him/her at mutually convenient times and occasions. Each tutor spends an average of two to three hours per week with a tutee and whenever possible, students are assigned to tutors who had the same professor for the course being tutored. This service is free of charge for all students.

Due to the limited number of available tutors, students may request tutoring for a maximum of two courses. You must attach an unofficial transcript to the Tutor Request Form or list all your law school courses and grades on the reverse side of the sheet. You will be contacted by email when a tutor has been located for you, and you will also be informed if we cannot find a tutor. If you are not able to secure a tutor, please contact the Office of Graduate Affairs for further assistance.

The deadline to apply for a tutor for the Spring 2008 semester is April 7th. Please visit the Office of Graduate Affairs if you think you may require a tutor.
