Student Housing

Students should ensure that they refer to the admitted students' website for the various housing options available.  Please email NUS Residential Services at stu_accom@nus.edu.sg if you have inquiries or would like to apply for the apartments. A summary of housing options available is as follows:

EVANS LODGE

Evans lodge is across the road from the NUS Faculty of Law and therefore exceptional in terms of location. NYU has recently completed an agreement with Evans Lodge to secure NYU@NUS students priority access to a limited number of rooms that have been renovated. These thirty-nine air-conditioned single rooms are located on the top floor of the main building and have shared kitchens and bathrooms, and a large common area. We hope that all of these rooms will be rented by NYU@NUS students, facilitating group discussions and study opportunities. The rooms are slightly more expensive than the regular Evans Lodge rooms and will rent at S$700 per month. Interested students should contact Ms Karen Loh at admin@evanslodge.com.sg, identifying themselves as NYU@NUS students.  Offers will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that neither NYU nor NUS assume any responsibility for this accommodation, for which you would contract directly with Evans Lodge.

If you intend to use Evans Lodge as a temporary base while you look for alternative housing, then it would be advisable to commit yourself to no more than a one-month stay. Besides single rooms, Evans Lodge also has one Guest Room available for either daily or monthly rental. It is very basic with dated furniture and has a bedroom with a double bed, a separate bathroom, kitchen and living area.

NUS ACCOMMODATION

NYU@NUS students may also apply for graduate housing from NUS Residential Services. NUS has a limited number of apartments in Prince George's Park Residences for married students. Married students (including those with children) may apply for accommodation at the Graduate Students Apartments (GSA) at Prince George's Park Residences. Married students who are accompanied by their spouse and children will be given priority over single students, as the GSA apartments are designed to cater to small families. Single students who are allocated GSA apartments in May must be prepared to move in the third or fourth week of July (which would coincide with the NYU@NUS summer examination period), as priority for housing will be given to new incoming married graduate students arriving for Semester 1 in August. Married students allocated apartments in May are likely to be successful in extending their stay into Semesters 1 and 2.

Please note, however, that if students are successful in being allocated GSA apartments for the summer period, these will only be available in the later part of May, therefore alternative accommodation will be required before the apartments are made available for students to move into.

PRIVATE ACCOMMODATION

NUS maintains a list of alternative housing options that may be of assistance.

Students with special needs should contact NUS Residential Services website for additional information.

As indicated on the admitted students' website, a third option is to explore the private market, which has been a popular choice with this year's students. Neither NYU nor NUS is in a position to vouch for any of these services; the following is offered for your information only.

Other useful websites to refer to include:

http://www.huasing.org (Chinese website)

Students who are interested in sharing a room with non-NYU students may check out http://sg.easyroommate.com.

In exploring the private market, the use of real estate agents may be an efficient way to locate accommodation if one is short of time. Please note that in Singapore, when one leases an apartment in the private market, the landlord would expect one month's advance rent, one month's security deposit, and the real estate agent would also expect the equivalent of one month's rent as commission (this is the maximum amount, some agents may charge less). The following are a few agents whom you may consider contacting to assist you in your housing search:
