The standard and quality of Singapore's medical and healthcare services is high, and Singapore has acquired a reputation for clinical excellence. However, hospitalization and surgical costs for non-citizens can be very expensive. Therefore, while enrolled in the NYU@NUS Programme, it is important that you have insurance for major accident, hospitalization and surgery.
It is compulsory for all full-time graduate students to subscribe to the NUS Group Medical Insurance Scheme (GMIS). Students who are able to submit documentary proof of an alternate coverage similar to the University’s insurance scheme can be waived from GMIS and will have to sign an undertaking for such waiver.
Students arriving in May must obtain and complete a GMIS form applying for coverage for the months of May through July. The form can be obtained from the Student Service Centre (SSC) located in Yusof Ishak House. The premium will be a pro-rated amount, and payment can be made immediately at the SSC.
