LL.M. Students - Singapore

General Requirements

As a dual degree programme, students are affiliated with both universities and receive both the benefits and obligations of that affiliation. Unless otherwise specified, students should note that:

1. All aspects of the NYU LL.M. degree component are subject to the rules and procedures of NYU School of Law. This includes all courses taken with NYU faculty.
2. All aspects of the NUS LL.M. degree component are subject to the rules and procedures of NUS Faculty of Law. This includes all courses taken with NUS faculty.
3. In the case of NUS faculty-taught courses where credits are applied towards the NYU LL.M degree portion, NUS policies will apply to the teaching of the course, and NYU policies will apply to the transfer of credit and translation of grades. Please note that for the purposes of calculating an NYU GPA, only courses taken with NYU faculty will be counted.
4. In general, students will register and participate in courses during the Summer Term (May-August) using the NYU system.
5. In general, students will register and participate in courses during NUS Semester One (August-December) and NUS Semester Two (January-May) using the NUS system.
6. Students are expected to become familiar with the NYU system prior to arriving in Singapore. Please note March 24 is the first day to enter summer lottery requests. Students will receive orientation to the NUS system prior to the start of NUS Semester One in August.

Students should note the following basic policies, which will also appear in the full compilation of procedures:

• Regular attendance is a prerequisite for the award of credit in any course;
• Penalties, including expulsion, will apply for cheating, plagiarism, or other unethical or inappropriate conduct.

The rules or policies stated herein are subject to change without prior notice. Subsequent promulgation and exceptions to these rules can be made only by the Director of the NYU@NUS programme or the Vice Dean of NYU School of Law.

As a general rule, except as otherwise noted, the rules and policies applicable to NYU Law School LL.M students are applicable to students in the NYU@NUS programme. It is noted, however, that the Director of the NYU@NUS Programme or the Vice Dean of NYU School of Law may enforce these provisions in a way at variance with the standard rules and policies as either in his or her discretion deems necessary to accommodate logistical, scheduling, or any other differences between the LL.M. programme in New York and the dual degree programme in Singapore.
