How to Apply

How to Apply

Applicants to the LL.M. program in either Singapore or New York City, applicants to the E-LL.M. program, and applicants to the J.S.D. program must use the NYU School of Law Graduate Online Application (application fee: $75), and must follow the directions in the Admissions Information and Application Instructions.

The Office of Graduate Admissions communicates with applicants via email. Please ensure the email address you provide on the application is correct and that you continue to update the Office of Graduate Admissions if it subsequently changes. All communication sent via email from the Office of Graduate Admissions will originate from Grad.Moreinfo@juris.law.nyu.edu, and you should ensure you adjust your email preferences appropriately so as to receive emails from this address. Note: all decisions regarding applications to the Graduate Division are sent to the mailing address provided on the application, and all applicants must supply a street address; P.O. Box addresses are not acceptable.

LL.M. and E-LL.M. Applicants
Applicants may apply to study in New York City, in Singapore, or in both cities. Applicants who apply to both programs must indicate their preference between the two programs. Applicants should request to be considered for NYU@NUS and/or study in New York City only if they would accept an offer of admission to attend law school in the respective location. Applicants may submit only one application in an academic year.

Applicants to New York City must choose one of the following specializations: Corporation Law, General Studies, International Legal Studies, International Taxation, Taxation, or Trade Regulation. Applicants to NYU@NUS will pursue an LL.M. in Law and the Global Economy and may choose the general LL.M. in Law and the Global Economy or an optional concentration in either U.S. and Asian Business and Trade Law or Justice and Human Rights. Please note NYU@NUS students may elect a concentration but are not required to do so.

Applicants to the E-LL.M. in Taxation program must apply to the part-time LL.M. in Taxation for the fall semester when completing the online application. They must also submit a statement where they specifically mention their application to the E-LL.M. via electronic attachment to their application. Otherwise, they will not be considered for the online program.

All Applicants
Application Fee Payment
We prefer that the application fee be paid online using either an American Express, Discover, MasterCard, or Visa credit card. However, if you are unable to pay your application fee online, you may mail your fee with the Payment Identification Form (accessible from the online application) using an international money order, or check drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to New York University in U.S. dollars. Do not send cash or traveler's checks.

Application fees are non-refundable and will not be credited toward your tuition if you are admitted. NYU School of Law does not waive application fees to the Graduate Division.

Application Receipt and Status
NYU School of Law typically receives approximately 2,000 applications for admission to the Graduate Division, processes many more letters of recommendation, transcripts, examination reports, etc., and receives several thousand more inquiries. Because of this volume of correspondence, the Committee on Graduate Admissions is not able to respond to email or telephone inquiries about application receipt and status. Requests of this nature only slow down the process for all applicants. However, applicants will be able to confirm the receipt of a letter of recommendation that is submitted through the NYU School of Law online recommendation service.

We suggest you print a copy of your online application for your records and keep copies of all documents you submit with your application. We cannot return or give you copies of any part of your application, transcripts, translations, letters of recommendation, or supporting material.
